ATORKA

Atorka — Brand Identity (Student Placement Project)
Project Summary
This project was created during a BHASVIC work experience placement at Backbone Studio. Atorka isn't a real company, but a concept created from scratch as a way to properly understand branding, not just design a logo and colour palette in isolation, but see how every piece of a brand connects: positioning, tone of voice, visual identity, packaging, and how it all needs to work together across a whole ecosystem of touchpoints.
Atorka was built as a premium Icelandic nutrition brand, giving the project a clear world to design into; a real audience, a real market, and real constraints to design around, even without a real client. Working through the full process from concept to finished brand system was a chance to learn how the small decisions (a colour, a typeface pairing, a line of copy) add up into something that feels considered and consistent, and why that consistency is what makes a brand actually work.
"It was a genuinely positive placement from start to finish, spent working alongside a professional studio rather than on a simulated brief. Beyond the design skills, building a brand system, working across logo, colour, type and packaging, and presenting decisions with a reason behind them. It was just as valuable to see how a studio actually operates day to day: how ideas get pitched, refined and pushed back on, and how much of good design comes down to communication as much as creativity. It's left a real appetite to keep learning and to take branding further."
The work below represents just 4 days of Jacksons work.
